led lights use about 20% or less of the energy
As Christmas gets closer, valley residents are getting their decorations up and a new light alternative, can help save money and energy.
The Harrisonburg Electric Commission says that Christmas decorations do tack on extra consumption for users.
Along with using timers to turn lights on and off, replacing standard lights with Led (Light-emitting diodes) lights can help.
Using LED, instead of traditional light strands to decorate trees and houses, will save money on your electric bill and last longer as well.
"led lights use about 20% or less of the energy that a normal light would use of the same size and type," says Brian O'Dell, the Engineering Manager with the Harrisonburg Electric Commission.
